About Gay Magagine " SABU"

The image of "SABU" created Japanese gay culture with its own ideological nature, inside the flow of subculture after the Second World War. This stoic world, which may be even called somewhat right-winged, was the very thought and representation of Mishima. His experience in the war, hangout with American soldiers after the war, and the encounter with Yukio Mishima became the ideology that rebelled against the rapid westernization of Japan right after the war. This became a black point emerging from a tube that turned into a unique gay culture which is not be seen anywhere else in the world.

It is a subject of argument whether this ideology is relying on the Tenno
system of Japan.

The cover art of the first number of "SABU" from Naruyama Collection gives the piece a monumental feeling in various means.
