TOGA TRIANGLE VOL.03
"KOSUKE IKESHIMA"
May14 (Tue) - June 9(Sun) 2024
Kosuke Ikeshima's wood carvings are finished with only a knife and without using a file, so the natural texture of wood is preserved. By combining this traditional Japanese wood carving technique with Western interpretations, Ikeshima creates works that incorporate perspectives such as mythology and views on life and death. He has also taken an interest in shrine carvings, and in recent years has carved carvings on the main gate of Mt. Hanagi Shaolin Temple in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
This time TOGA TRIANGLE, we introduce you to see life-sized female statues, painted moths, and other creatures carved from wood.
