Makoto Orui CERAMIC WORKS
2017/2/3 (Fri) - 2/14 (Tue)
Makoto Orui's ceramics are all unique, due to the unexpected and unintentional effects of fire glazing stoneware and the imperfections found in their final form. Coming to life from the touch of his fingers, these distinct objects are an extension of Orui's designs and drawings, who, is an expert in graphics and music.
Orui is a freelance designer, who has worked as an art director for "Purple" magazine in France and "Rockin’on" magazine in Japan . As a chief director of Fiction Inc, he has published "SALE 2" and "THE international", also distributing artbooks, movies and running gallery/nightclub "THE deep". He moved to Paris in 2006 and in 2007 started making ceramics after being invited by a friend to visit a ceramics studio. He studied the basics of using a big abandoned kerokuro (pottery kick wheel) for 3 years with a French female ceramist. He has exhibited his work in Paris and Gallery Naruyama in Tokyo.
